Winter 2021: Let the Flower of Your Life Force Bloom

To fully understand human life, you have to go deep into you and see human life more deeply. The depth of life is your destination, but don’t attach to it. Just constantly try to deepen your life. This is spiritual life. Through spiritual practice you can deepen your life -
you can really know what is at the bottom of human life…. So let’s learn who we are. ~Dainin Katagiri
The Light that Shines through Infinity
Taught by Genpo Michael O'Neal and Joen O’Neal
This course will be a careful examination of Zen teachings expressed by Dainin Katagiri Roshi in his book, The Light that Shines through Infinity.
The primary focus will be on Eight Awarenesses of Enlightened Beings, a teaching attributed to the Buddha. According to Katagiri Roshi, "There are eight, but each one contains all the others, so by practicing any one of them we can learn the meaning of effort, mindfulness, oneness, and silence as aspects of enlightenment."
Dainin Katagiri Roshi was the root teacher of Michael and Joen O'Neal and one of the most influential Zen teachers in the West. Copies of the course text will be mailed out as needed to course participants.
