Building Update

It's true -- we have purchased a new home for our sangha! Thanks to the support of innumerable beings, we've bought a lovely building at 1626 Jefferson St. NE in northeast Minneapolis.

We continue with renovations on our new building so we can move in later next Spring. Many, many thanks to everyone who supported the long searching and buying process in so many ways!

Directions to 1626 Jefferson St. NE:

From the north or south:
Take Central Ave. to Broadway; go west on Broadway. After the first stoplight, you'll see Logan Park on your right. Jefferson St. NE runs along the far (west) side of this park. Go right on Jefferson and continue three blocks to 1626.

From the west:
Take I-94 to Broadway; go east on Broadway and over the river. About 12 blocks after the river (six blocks after University Ave. NE), you'll come to Jefferson St. NE. (If you pass Logan park, you just missed it.) Go left on Jefferson St. NE and continue three blocks to 1626.

From the east:
Take Hwy 280 to Broadway; go west on Broadway. After you drive under Hwy 35W, it's about six blocks to Central Ave. Keep going straight past Central, and after the next stoplight you'll see Logan park on your right. Jefferson St. NE runs along the far side of this park. Go right on Jefferson St. NE and continue three blocks to 1626.

A note about parking! Please be considerate of our new neighbors and don't park in front of anyone's house. There's parking by the commercial building diagonally across from the Center on 17th St. NE, and a small parking lot we can use on the 17th St. side of that building.

Calling All Volunteers!

We are currently remodeling our new building, and we are doing quite a bit of the work ourselves. Michael O'Neal, who did carpentry and remodeling work for ten years, is leading sangha construction projects in coordination with our architect and contractors. Volunteers of all skill levels (including those with no particular skills) are needed. If you or anyone you know would be willing to help, we'd love to have you!

Because various tasks are going on at different times, we have organized a communication system for interested people so they can be aware of upcoming projects and volunteer for ones that match their interests and abilities. We will have some need for off-site (non-construction) assistance as well. Please email your name and email address to michael@oceandharma.org with "Building Volunteers" in the subject line even if you have signed up in the past.
